[Blues-l] Blues-l Digest, Vol 48, Issue 13

She was indeed a major talent. Hadn't seen or heard much of her for a
few years. Not sure why not. Did she cut back her touring? I don't
think she ever played the Northwest.

One of my favorite photos from my years of shooting in Memphis is a
pic I took of Deborah. Curiously, not on stage. She was sitting at a
table -- I think at B.B. King's -- looking pensive in the ambient
light from the window. I was still shooting film in those days, and
we can't post pix on here. But if anyone wants to see it email me off list.

Been an ugly couple weeks. Steve Lalor, my good friend of 50+ years
and co-founder of the Daily Flash, passed suddenly two weeks ago. He
performed a solo set at my birthday bash two years ago, and thank
goodness we filmed it. (It's online, but still in a Dropbox share
file. Let me know if you'd like the link.) There was a massive
tribute to him at what would have been a Flash gig a week ago. Then,
I found out late last night that his wife had a stroke and is in the
hospital. Two nights ago the wife of another long time guitarist
buddy checked out. Aren't we all supposed to live to be 97 like Pinetop?

My photographer colleague Bob Compton once observed, "It's a mighty
short ride." Unfortunately, no matter how long you live, it's still
true. Gotta get up every day and do what you love, preferably with
people you love.

Jef
