I have not payed much attention to the awards for the last year or two. They at least got it right with the Chicago Blues living history record...otherwise the awards are pretty irrelevant . It is more of a time to see some friends you don't see much but the awards at least to me say a lot more about the fan base that votes(if that's how the awards are really chosen) than actual musical content. I mean Derek Trucks does not consider himself a blues artist and he wins over say Lurrie Bell....it's all about the fan base of today's blues scene and it's not a fan base I think has much knowledge or appreciation of the genre.
