I'm glad to see it nominated because I know Jr Mack and he is not only talented but a really nice guy. He also front's Jaimoe's Jasssz Band. Jaimoe as in the drummer in the Allman Brothers Band.
Here's a couple of songs of him mostly solo playing around our campfire at the Wanee Music Festival:

I loved "And Still I Rise" and really glad to see it nominated.

I have only heard two of these: Ruthie Foster and Dr. John, although I have heard cuts from Shemekia and Joan Osborne on XM. All enjoyable but nothing that knocks my socks off.

I notice that Bonnie's "Slipstream" is nominated in Americana, and cds by Ry Cooder, Luther Dickinson, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops are nominated in the Folk category.
