"Mr. Tater, The Music Maker" passed away early
Friday morning in Memphis; funeral arrangements
have been made; donations are being sought by family to cover funeral expenses

Hailed as one of the last Mississippi Delta
street musicians and a favorite of visiting
tourists from around the world, Foster Wiley
a.k.a. "Mr Tater, The Music Maker" passed away
early Friday morning, September 10, at the
Methodist University Hospital in Memphis --
according to his brothers Joshua and Joe Wiley.
Foster Wiley had been in the Intensive Care Unit
for over a week with kidney and other issues.

Affectionately called "Mr. Tater" by his fans,
Foster Wiley was known for his daily street
performances in downtown Clarksdale as well as
his late night jams at blues venues like Ground
Zero Blues Club, Red's Lounge and Club 2000. His
name or image often appeared in both national and
international media circles, including such
iconic news outlets as The New York Times, BBC,
CNN, CBS and NPR. He was a regular act at local
blues festivals, recorded approximately a dozen
albums and was featured in a handful of documentaries.
