2010 Blues Music Award Winners

No "best" in the bunch. All awards are labeled "(whatever) of the Year".

And one more minor point. Walter mentioned that the awards are voted on by "the public." Not true. The awards are voted on by the dues-paying members of the Blues Foundation. These are people who have enough interest in the music and people of the blues to cough up $25 or more for a Blues Foundation membership.

There are just too many variables to really find "the best" and what does that mean anyway? With something as subjective as the arts, there is no yardstick for measuring best. You can measure who runs the fastest or who jumps the highest but who is the best blues performer? I don't think so! I don't think the Blues Foundation does either.

I think some of the flaws with the BMAs have been addressed, such as the ones who win year after year. But as long as it is decided by the public, it will come down to the winner being the one who can get the public's attention.
