Go to almost any blues jam and you are bound to hear at least one Jimmy
Reed song.
For a while many years ago I though Jimmy reed's stuff as just too
simple. Now it really appeals to me but I think the nuances of his songs
are often missed by many of the folks who play his songs. Maybe because
many modern musicians tend to straighten out his curves, if you know
what I mean. There is something universal in the appeal of his music
that I can't quite put my finger on. One thing I have noticed, a Jimmy
Reed song will get almost as many people dancing as "Mustang Sally."
