Just as a little follow up to your response Ricky, many of the people you
are speaking of (especially the craziest ones like Osama) are members of the
radical Sunni Muslim sect called Wahabbism. I don't think it's accurate or
fair to categorize all Sunni Muslims in the way that you have. As Americans
we need to understand who our real enemies are rather than blindly flailing
away at our "perceived" enemies. Of course if we continue on the path we're
traveling now, all foreign born Muslims will become our enemies eventually,
that is if they haven't already.
On the other hand I think Larry's wrong to think that he's being
discriminated against because of his religion (this is the Blues, where as
far as race, religion and appearance etc.,.. anything goes as long as people
like your music..). The whole Blues business is tough right now. If you
didn't establish your name in the Blues market ( with agents and promoters
etc.,...) before 2000, you just might be shit out of luck, especially if
you're trying to get started now, no matter who you are. You also need a
realistic understanding of today's marketplace in order to survive in it,
i.e., if you don't draw tons of people, you aren't going to be able to
demand lots of money. Of course, if you are drawing well, you should get
your fair share.
So good luck Larry, I hope you can buck the trend.
