Doc Pomus

There was an LP from Europe a few years back that had EARLY Doc Pomus
(late 1940s?)-- back when he was pretty much singing 'garden variety'
jump-blues, not singing the hits he's known for. Don't know if he ever
recorded his own tunes. You're right tho, he was one of the best of 'em
all when it comes to writing R&B tunes that were both catchy and
memorable. For awhile - during his peak hit-making days - he often
teamed as a songwriter with Mort Schuman (spelling?) who later went on
to be more of a pop, Broadway type songwriter (and starred in a musical
based on the songs of French composer Jacque Brel). Later in his life,
he often wrote songs together with Dr. John, creating more wonderful
material.
