On this day in 1921, James P. Johnson recorded "Carolina Shout" in New York
City for Okeh records.

On this day in 1927, in Atlanta, GA, the Victor Records field recording
unit lead by Ralph Peer made the first recordings by Willie McTell,
recording "Writin' Paper Blues," "Stole Rider Blues," "Mama 'Tain't Long
Fo' Day," and two takes of "Mr. McTell Got The Blues."
