On this day in 1938, The Night Owls recorded "Memphis Blues" in Dallas,
Texas for Vocalion (4312-B)

On this day in 1959, Chess/Checker records released Chuck Berry's "Chuck
Berry on Top" album, and Bo Diddley's "Go Go Bo Diddley".

On this day in 1963, Civil Rights Leader Medgar Evars was shot dead by a
sniper outside his home in Jackson, Mississippi.  His killer, Byron De La
Beckwith, went free until convicted at a third murder trial in 1994.
