Europe and U.S.'s backyard

Interesting little tidbit regarding the theory that the British Invasion
showed Americas what was in their own backyard, which is true regarding
electric Chicago and early Delta blues in the late '60s, but hugely
debatable otherwise. This is noted in a historical timeline in Robert
Palmer's "Rock 'n' Roll: An Unruly History.":
"1964: Largely as a result of the British invastion, the year's Top 10 has
the lowest percentage of records by black artists since 1950."

"For God's sake let's have a little more freakish behavior -- not less."
  -- Tennessee Williams, 1945
